“More middle-aged people unhealthy” says Public Health England report

“More middle-aged people unhealthy” – says Public Health England report

Four fifths of middle-aged adults are putting themselves at risk of disease as busy lives and desk jobs make it increasingly hard to stay healthy, experts have said.

83% of 40 to 60-year olds are either drinking too much, are inactive or are overweight, Public Health England (PHE) said.

Officials said that 87% of men and 79% of women are not doing enough exercise, exceeding the recommended limits for alcohol or are either overweight or obese.

Figures taken from the Health Survey for England show that 77% of men and 63% of women in middle age are either overweight or obese – with the rate of obesity shooting up 16% in the last two decades.

The diabetes rate among this age group also doubled in this period in England, PHE said.

Meanwhile, many are also not being physically active and drinking too much.

The health body is encouraging adults to take its One You – How Are You health quiz which may highlight problems and areas for improvement.

People who take the quiz and are flagged as having a problem are directed to apps including Couch to 5K, Alcohol Checker and Easy Meals. “The demands of modern – day living are taking their toll on the health of the nation, and it’s those in middle age that are suffering the consequences most, as their health reaches worrying new levels,” said Professor Sir Muir Gray clinical adviser of PHE’s One You lifestyle campaign.

“Over 15 million Britons are living with a long term health condition, and busy lives and desk jobs make it difficult to live healthily”.

“But just making a few small changes will have significant benefits to people’s health now and in later life.”

Professor Kevin Fenton, director of health and wellbeing at Public Health England, admitted: “People are busy with work, with families, with the daily grind and sometimes their health is the least of their priorities. “

Creating Elite Health for you – Resetting your Microbiome

Creating Elite Health for you – Resetting your Microbiome

Yes, it is that time of year again and are you thinking; let’s go on a diet and lose some weight, or buy some new running shoes, or take up a gym membership maybe, does this sound familiar?

Stop – before you do any of this, let’s just take a few minutes to think about this. What we have in the 21st Century is information overload on all things health and wellness and especially losing weight.

What we have done is to cut through that noise, and by aligning ourselves with Synergy Worldwide we have put together the 8 Key factors to maintaining great health. We want to create a wellness platform where our mantra is, Awareness + Prevention = Wellness, we call this Elite Health.

Elite Health is the pinnacle of wellness, where age does not dictate ability. Scientifically, Elite Health is optimal metabolic function, the state in which all body systems are performing efficiently.

Elite Health starts at your core, your microbiome. Your microbiome is a complex network of bacteria, fungi, and microflora that reside primarily in the gut and impact the health of virtually every system in the human body.

The microbiome accounts for 90% of the cells that create you, yet only 10% of the cells in your body contain your DNA. While the microbes living in your body are essential to survival, they can also be detrimental to your health. Your microbiome’s health affects your brain function, mood, immune system, and gastrointestinal tract.

In fact, three-quarters of the microbiome lives in your intestines, which is why Synergy’s cutting edge products are designed to target the gut microbiome. Protecting and supporting good microbes is just as important as eliminating the bad ones.

The new Synergy microbiome purify kit is a 10-day detox and purify program that will reset your microbiome. You will feel healthier and ready to engage with Synergy’s other wellness products, including weight management, nutrition, cardiovascular and sport products.
