Purifying and Protecting Your Microbiome
Did you know only 10% of your cells contain your DNA, the rest of you are micro-organisms, over 100 trillion of them! There are over 10,000 species with most of them living happily in your gut and is called the Microbiome.

Science is discovering for the first time how an out of balance Microbiome is causing major problems in the 21st Century and is at the root of many of the autoimmune diseases we see today, including Celiac disease, Diabetes, IBS, Obesity and many more.
However, as ‘know-all’ 21st Century beings we are in danger of taking our eye of the ball and not realising that we have already created a toxic environment to good health. This is a paradox because we should be looking forward to a longer healthier life because of the scientific discoveries and knowledge we have accumulated over the last 100 years. Instead we are looking down the barrel where our children may not live as-long-as the current generation and that to me is frightening and unacceptable.
Something is very wrong, “Houston we have a problem”, it is a complex problem but fundamentally it is intertwined with the relationship that we all have through the NHS to the Pharmaceutical industry and to the foods we eat.
The biggest problem in the UK is that most people do not take personal responsibility for their health; they wait until they become sick and then go and see their very busy and stressed out doctor, who in a 10-minute appointment is all too happy to prescribe prescription medication especially when they are pressurised to do it by the patient, who through general ignorance of health and wellness needs to come away from the consultation with a fix, whatever that is.
This ignorance to health and wellness is causing people to take wrong options when healthier solutions are available. These solutions involve our understanding of current scientific thinking and results of new studies.
The wide-spread use of antibiotics in particular is having an adverse effect on the health of our microbiome. Did you know for example that a 10-day course of antibiotics can knock out a third of your microbiome and if these are prescribed on a frequent basis you will be opening yourself up to potentially causing autoimmune syndromes and diseases. And yet we still dispense antibiotics in phenomenal amounts.
It is not only antibiotics that are adversely effecting your microbiome, it is the foods we eat and the environment we live in.
